18th on the 18th.

It doesn’t seem like so much time has passed, but a little over a week and a half ago, I headed down South to watch one of my great friends get married.  Hilton Head provided the best backdrop for one of the most beautiful weddings I’ve ever attended.  I was so honored to watch two great people, whom I’ve come to love over the years, commit to each other.  As you can see from above, the ceremony was held outside….on the 18th hole of the Sea Pines golf club.  Right before the bridal party made their entrance, an entire family of dolphins (I think we counted at least 10) swam up into the bay.  While I’m still speechless over that scene, I will say that it was one of the most beautiful things I’ve seen in the longest of longest times.

So, because I don’t think I can do the weekend justice with words, I’m going to attempt to show you as many pictures as possible.  I discovered pretty quickly that Tumblr won’t let me load more than about 10 shots per video slide…..which just isn’t enough.  Hence, this is a long post, but I think it’s pretty darn worth it. I’ll do my best to keep the captions short and sweet.

Pretty, Sparkly, Lovely.

Happy last day of summer all! I know it’s been several days since I’ve posted….as I’ve been jetting off to watch a great friend get married (details to follow later this week). So, although I hate to make my first post this week about fashion, I just couldn’t help but share this article I stumbled upon this morning.

The above picture is one of the “after” shots of a Do-it-Yourself project posted by The Glamourai.  This project looks so so so fun, AND it’s so easy on the wallet.  So! I don’t want to spoil everything (and I want her to get the credit for the how-to’s), but below is a sneak peak on what the finished product looks like!

For the Love of Books...

“There are days when 15 or 20 people pass by and might not even notice I’m here,” he said, as several pedestrians seemed to do just that. “A decade ago, if you saw someone covering their ear and talking to themselves, you would have thought they were just nuts. Today that’s the norm. It’s as if they are totally consumed by their own world and have no room for the outside. It is complete immersion in self to the exclusion of all else. That has to have an impact on the rest of our lives.”

I love this part of NYC.  People of all kinds, with their pop up stores on any given street.  I never honestly stopped to think that the economy was hitting them too. Furthermore, I love his comment towards the end of the article in regards to the Apple store. Am I the only one who loves buying a new book???  Anyone buy books from these guys?

What's on the Horizon....

Are those bells I hear????

Why yes….ABSOLUTELY! One of my great friends is getting MARRIED this weekend! Wow, I actually can’t believe that sentence just came out of my mouth. Double wow.

Anywho, I’m off to Hilton Head immediately following work on Friday.  I’ll get to see TONS of friends, my parents, the beach, a pool, etc.

Other than that, I’ve got a full week of things going on here in NYC.  Need to do some laundry (aka go drop it off), clean the apartment some, work out a ton, and close down some big things at work. Not to mention I have some birthday dinners and meet ups with friends I haven’t seen in weeks.

Whew! With all that said, I suddenly feel really tired. Too sad that it’s only 11am on Monday….

It's Finally Friday!

Good morning all!

This has been one of the longest weeks I’ve had in the longest time.  Not only am I thrilled that it’s Friday, I’m also so stoked that I’m off work today.  My mom and dad are here in the city for the long weekend, and I’m really excited that I can spend some time with them.

We aren’t really sure what we are doing quite yet…especially since Hurricane Earl is rearing his ugly head up the coast today, but here are some things I’ve suggested we do.

1. Woodbury Commons- amazing outlets in upstate New York.  I’m pretty sure we are doing this today….just to avoid the nastiness of the City when it rains.

2. Yankees Game- I’m in the mood to watch some live sports!

3. Pilgrimage to Princeton to see my family that lives there.  I hope we have enough time/days to fit this in!

4. Broadway show- any good suggestions??? I saw Billy Elliot a few months back, and it really set the bar EXTREMELY high.

5. Antique Shopping/Regular shopping around the city- Really like to do this with the rents…I feel like they know a little bit more about good quality on old things than me…ha.

Ok! So I have to run to dry my hair and then head to their hotel to see them.  I hope everyone’s Friday goes well.  Keep your heads up high! A long weekend is just hours away!
