Take a look at my so so pretty new bookshelf for my room! It took me a while to figure out the assembly part (it’s way bigger than me and came in 10 different pieces), and even longer to walk it home…no cabs allowed to stop on my street due to Prez. Obama being in town….but I just love it! My books are so pretty, and every thing else pops against the white.

As I laid in bed tonight, I couldn’t help but snap a pic with my phone and post it. So happy I bit the bullet and indulged myself with a nice, new piece!
Sweet dreams everyone!

I’m not lying when I say that I have struggled with productivity this week at work. It’s been so hard to focus as I have been super tired. Not sure why. Maybe this morning is starting off good because of how I ended my night last night.
After work, I met Jessica for a quick sushi dinner near my office. From there I went and ran some errands, grabbing some stuff I needed to work on putting things together in my apartment. I spent the rest of the night working in my room: going through mail, hanging pictures, cleaning a bit. It felt good to climb into bed, feeling pretty tired. I went straight to sleep and didn’t wake up until my surprisingly good morning today!
So with all that said, I have decided that while my blog is great for family members to read about what I’m doing here in NYC, I really struggle telling you about all the things I’m doing. SO! Because I do not want to waste a second of my time here in NYC, I really want to start exploring. I want to go on quests for the best thrift store, the best burger, the best park, etc. As I discover, I’ll write about it.
Up first: best vintage clothing store in the city. I’m going to spend the next few weeks exploring, and then I’ll report back with my finds and my top 5 list.
I’m honestly very excited…..I’m such a list maker, and this combines my curious nature with my type-A persona.
Let me know what you think! Any suggestions on some stores that you like here in the city?

Here’s how my morning began:
5:45am- vibrations on my pillow? Is that my alarm? NO! It’s someone PRACTICING THEIR FREAKING BASS! So glad he/she continued to play on for 1 hour. I eventually gave up and jumped in the shower.
7:15am- Outfit #1
7:19am- Outfit #2
7:35am- Outfit #3 (it actually made it to the office)
7:40am- still in apartment. I should have been on the subway by outfit #3.
7:50am- Leaving.
7:55am- Forgot my water bottle and breakfast. Back in the apt.
7:56am- FINALLY on my way to the subway.
OMG (and I don’t use that EVER). I’m in such a bad mood this morning that I haven’t even taken off my headphones yet. Best part is that I have to be totally up beat in approximately 46 minutes. Yay for me. Yay for a FANTASTIC start to my week. All I have to say is Mr. Bass man better have been prepping for tonight’s show, as this will not become a standard practice. Megan + mornings = I have no filter and will do anything to get my last 30 minutes of sleep.
Ok. Feel a little better now. ugh.
Hopefully, everyone’s days will go much better than how mine is tracking.

Whew! Without going into a HUGE description of what my past few days have been like, I will say that I have been SO sick. I probably slept for about 16 hours a day, and the remaining hours were basically miserable. Thank goodness I had my family in Princeton; they let me crash there throughout the entire spell. I actually went to visit them for the holiday, but, all I ended up doing was crashing. ha.
So! Now that I’ve pseudo-recovered, what does my upcoming week look like?
1) I have to get caught up on work, but I will not let myself stay past 6:30 for the rest of the week. AND! No more working from home this week. I’m convinced the reason I stayed sick for so long was because my body had no energy to fight it off.
2) Finish up decorating the apartment. I REALLY want to post some pictures for you guys to see the place. While I know it will be a while before things are exactly how I like them, I would like to give you some idea of what it looks like. (I’m starting to love it more and more, by the way….)
3) Catch up with some old friends. I feel like I have fallen off the face of the earth in terms of long lost friends (college and high school), and I really want to make some time to catch up with them.
Other than that, I’m keeping my promise of posting old pictures from my past few months. Coming up soon are pictures of the Kentucky Derby, my first visit to the Hamptons, and my first visit to Charleston post-graduation. Really excited to re-live some of those moments!
I hope everyone’s Wednesday is starting off on the right foot. It’s back to work for me, so I hope my body is recovered enough to actually be effective. Have a great day!
